Role Overview:
The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, medication administration, and patient assessment, primarily in critical care settings. Responsibilities include ventilator management, airway procedures, arterial blood gas analysis, patient and family education, and collaboration with healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Key Duties:
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care and education.
- Perform invasive and non-invasive procedures, including intubation, extubation, and pulmonary diagnostics.
- Manage ventilator settings, weaning, and waveform interpretation.
- Administer medications and therapies per protocols, ensuring safety and accuracy.
- Mentor and precept new staff, students, and peers.
- Contribute to performance improvement and evidence-based practices.
- Maintain accurate documentation and promote a safe environment.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred).
- Required certifications include NBRC-RRT, RCP, BLS, and ACLS.
- 0-2 years of clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills; proficiency with electronic health records and databases.
