Role Overview
The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, including medication administration, ventilator management, airway procedures, and patient assessments in critical care settings. They deliver personalized patient education, collaborate with healthcare teams, and mentor new staff and students. Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and collaborate on care planning
- Administer aerosolized medications, oxygen therapy, and manage ventilators
- Conduct invasive and non-invasive procedures, including airway management and pulmonary testing
- Educate patients, families, and staff, fostering a supportive environment
- Ensure safety through accurate documentation, medication safety, and compliance with policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practices
- Support staff development and contribute to a positive team culture
Qualifications & Skills
- Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program with at least 20 science hours
- Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Certifications: NBRC-RRT, RCP, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP (or equivalent)
- 0-2 years of clinical experience, with minimum 6 months in critical care
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and computer skills
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with healthcare professionals
