Job Summary: MRI Technologists operate imaging equipment to perform diagnostic, therapeutic, or research magnetic resonance procedures, preparing and analyzing data for interpretation by licensed practitioners. They independently conduct MRI scans, ensure patient safety, and adhere to protocols while managing medications and maintaining confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct orders, identify and prepare patients, and document clinical history.
- Use appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply ALARA principles to maximize safety.
- Administer medications via vascular access as prescribed and evaluate image quality.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers.
- Apply magnetic resonance safety principles to minimize risks.
- Assist with MRI interventional procedures and perform scans as directed.
- Select pulse sequences based on protocols and data acquisition needs.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and demonstrate proficiency in all duties.
Work is typically conducted in a clinical setting, with responsibilities including compliance with policies and procedures. The role requires certification by ARRT, ARMRIT, or NMTCB, and graduate training in Radiologic Technology, with a preference for a related bachelor’s degree.
