Role Overview: The Behavioral Health Assessor-Licensed performs comprehensive assessments, psycho-education, and interventions for patients with psychological, behavioral, or substance-related issues. Working under the guidance of the Manager of Behavioral Health, this role involves collaborating with care teams to develop safe, individualized treatment plans and ensuring proper discharge and placement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct face-to-face and tele-mental health assessments in emergency and acute care settings.
- Perform suicide risk assessments and interpret clinical findings.
- Collaborate with physicians, social workers, and family/support systems to plan and coordinate care.
- Assist with legal holds, referrals, and discharge planning, ensuring patient safety and support needs are met.
- Document assessments, safety plans, and patient contacts accurately in electronic medical records.
- Participate in service initiatives, adhere to ethical standards, and maintain confidentiality.
Qualifications & Skills:
- MSW or master’s degree in professional counseling from an accredited program.
- Licenses and certifications including BLS, Workplace Violence Prevention, and licensure as a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor or Licensed Master Social Worker in GA.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with adult/child populations, preferably with behavioral health patients.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, ability to think abstractly, and knowledge of behavioral health best practices.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and telemedicine technology.
