Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care in critical settings, including ventilator management, medication administration, and patient assessment. They independently handle complex cases, collaborate with healthcare teams, and educate patients, families, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care, including aerosolized medications, airway management, and arterial blood gas sampling.
- Manage mechanical ventilators, perform weaning, and interpret waveforms.
- Educate patients and mentor new employees, students, and peers.
- Support a safe environment by ensuring accurate documentation, promoting patient safety, and participating in performance improvement initiatives.
- Assist with invasive and non-invasive procedures and pulmonary testing as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred).
- Necessary certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and NBRC-RRT or RCP.
- 0-2 years of clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and computer skills, with the ability to establish effective relationships with healthcare professionals.
