Role Overview: Assists surgeons during surgical procedures across all age groups, ensuring patient safety and proper protocol adherence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supports surgical team by preparing and connecting clinical equipment, maintaining aseptic techniques, and assisting with instruments and supplies.
- Participates in surgical timeouts, site verification, and specimen handling to ensure safety and accuracy.
- Maintains sterile environment, manages wound dressings, and disposes of sharps and linens appropriately.
- Assesses wounds, applies dressings, and assists with patient admission, discharge, and post-operative care.
- Performs billing, manages emergency procedures, and participates in on-call rotations.
- Acts as a preceptor for students, complies with policies, and performs quality control tasks.
- Supports additional duties such as specimen collection, patient transport, and post-mortem care, under supervision.
Qualifications & Skills: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or eligible per state law, with a specialty training program graduate. Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques, surgical protocols, and teamwork essential.
