Role Overview: The Nuclear Medicine technologist provides safe, patient-centered imaging services by performing a variety of technical procedures following department protocols. They independently set up equipment, position patients, and ensure high-quality diagnostic images are obtained. The role involves verifying orders, assessing patient history, administering radiopharmaceuticals safely, and responding to emergency situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adjust imaging techniques to optimize study quality and report equipment issues promptly.
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and functionality according to infection control policies.
- Deliver compassionate patient care, verifying identity, and ensuring comfort and dignity throughout procedures.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families, explaining procedures and addressing concerns.
- Follow pre- and post-procedural protocols, including sterile techniques and venipuncture skills.
- Participate in quality control, timely study transmission, and documentation accuracy.
- Assist with departmental operations, including supply restocking, patient transport, and administrative tasks.
- Adhere to regulatory standards and support departmental and hospital-wide policies.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology.
- Minimum of 1 year clinical experience, with preferred experience in Nuclear Medicine.
- Certifications: ARRT Nuclear Technology or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist, and BLS certification.
- Strong technical skills, critical thinking, and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication, patient care, and organizational abilities.
Additional Duties: Performing routine clerical tasks, maintaining departmental standards, and participating in ongoing education and training. The role may include taking call and supporting team members as needed.
