Role Overview: MRI Technologists utilize radiofrequencies within a magnetic field to perform diagnostic, therapeutic, or research imaging. They independently conduct MRI procedures, prepare and administer medications as prescribed, and analyze acquired data for diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct patient identification, ensure proper preparation, and document clinical history while maintaining confidentiality.
- Apply appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and prioritize patient safety following ALARA principles.
- Evaluate image quality, verify data transfer, and assist in MRI safety protocols.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare staff, and assist licensed practitioners in MRI procedures and interventions.
- Select suitable pulse sequences and ensure compliance with safety standards and implant investigations.
Qualifications & Skills: Certification from ARRT, NMTCB, ARMRIT, or equivalent is required. New graduates must obtain certification prior to employment. A specialty training program in radiologic technology and a bachelor’s degree in a related field are preferred.
Work Environment: Typically performed in a clinical setting, with adherence to policies and procedures. The role demands attention to safety, technical proficiency, and patient care excellence.
