Role Overview: The position involves collaborating with pharmacy IT and Clinical Informatics teams to select, implement, and evaluate automated systems and technology that enhance pharmacy-related patient care activities, including decision support. The role also requires coordination with external departments to optimize drug delivery and pharmaceutical services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, implement, integrate, and maintain automation and technology to ensure safe medication use.
- Test and evaluate system upgrades, new functionalities, and program changes related to pharmacy practice.
- Address issues with pharmacy technology, decision support, and database management.
- Provide in-service education for pharmacists, technicians, and external staff on pharmacy technology.
- Support workflow analysis and training during electronic medical record (EMR) implementations.
- Troubleshoot charge errors in revenue cycle systems such as Siemens or Epic.
- Update the Charge Description Master for medications, including descriptions, coding, and charges.
- Support charge and dispense information for the 340b program from electronic systems.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy required; Master’s in Computer Science or related field preferred.
- Strong expertise in pharmacy automation, system testing, and electronic health records.
- Excellent problem-solving, training, and communication skills.
- Ability to support workflow analysis and implement technological solutions within a clinical environment.
