Outpatient Clinic Charge Nurse (RN)

Role Overview: The RN Clinical Charge Nurse leads and oversees daily unit operations to ensure safe, high-quality patient care. They practice in a clinical environment supported by evidence-based models, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver individualized care. The role involves staffing, patient assignments, unit flow, and leadership tasks such as staff development, physician rounding, and survey readiness.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage resources, equipment, and staffing to support patient care.
  • Make patient assignments considering patient needs and staff capabilities.
  • Conduct rounds to evaluate care quality, ensuring safety and compliance with standards.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary communication, documentation, and patient education.
  • Lead performance improvement initiatives, promote evidence-based practice, and support research activities.
  • Mentor and foster professional development among team members.
  • Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and organizational policies.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum of an Associate’s or Diploma in Nursing; Bachelor’s preferred.
  • Valid RN license and BLS certification; additional specialty certification preferred.
  • At least 1 year of nursing experience; 2+ years as relief charge preferred.
  • Strong clinical, leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient in technology and documentation tools.
