Role Overview: Performs clinical laboratory testing under supervision, ensuring accuracy and quality in patient results. Maintains equipment, documentation, and participates in quality assurance activities. May supervise and teach laboratory staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures accuracy in patient testing, quality assurance, proficiency, and competency assessments.
- Maintains proper specimen identification and documents QA investigations and trends.
- Reports laboratory data accurately within established turnaround times.
- Interprets lab data, recognizing its clinical significance and relationships.
- Follows procedures for test tracking, notifications, and hand-offs with team members.
- Supports laboratory performance improvements and inspection readiness.
- Maintains current knowledge of policies, regulations, and safety standards.
- Participates in continuous education, meetings, and committees.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s in Medical Technology, Science, or related field; Master’s preferred.
- Certifications such as MT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), or equivalent are required.
- Minimum one year of laboratory experience preferred.
- Proficient in computer/data entry, with knowledge of Excel, Word, and basic systems; experience with Epic and 3M is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with healthcare team members.
