Role Overview: Radiologic Technologists perform diagnostic, therapeutic, or research imaging procedures using ionizing radiation. They independently conduct radiographic and fluoroscopic exams, ensuring patient safety and adherence to protocols. They prepare, administer, and document medications and radiation exposure per legal and institutional guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct patient identification, prepare for exams, and document clinical history confidentially.
- Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply ALARA principles to ensure safety.
- Evaluate images for quality, proper positioning, and transfer data for archival storage or further analysis.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers.
- Assist licensed practitioners during fluoroscopic and specialized procedures.
- Perform radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures across various clinical settings, including operating rooms and intensive care units.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- New graduates must obtain ARRT-R certification within 6 months.
- Applicants hired after a specific date must progress to level 2 within 24 months.
