Role Overview: Acts as a licensed pharmacist at the retail pharmacy, delivering accurate, safe, and efficient medication services. Responsible for interpreting prescriptions, evaluating drug interactions, and ensuring proper dispensing. Delegates tasks to pharmacy technicians and supervises pharmacy operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret prescriptions, assess for interactions, contraindications, and make medication determinations.
- Process prescriptions received via phone or in person, reviewing medication profiles for sensitivities.
- Enter patient and insurance information to maintain updated profiles and billing accuracy.
- Provide counseling to physicians, patients, and customers to ensure proper medication use and adherence.
- Resolve prescribing issues, suggest formulary substitutions, and coordinate with clinical staff on drug therapies.
- Supervise pharmacy staff, oversee daily operations, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Prepare specialized medications, including compounding and sterile products, using aseptic techniques.
- Assist with inventory management, ordering medications and supplies as needed.
- Contribute to process improvements and assume additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills: Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy required. Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and pharmacy operations. Excellent communication, supervisory, and problem-solving skills. Ability to collaborate with healthcare professionals and ensure medication safety and accuracy.
