Role: The Staff Radiation Therapist applies ionizing radiation to diverse patients in accordance with physician prescriptions, operating radiation equipment safely and performing precise technical procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in quality control and ensure accurate delivery of therapy.
- Assess patients, perform procedures, and provide specialty care, considering age-specific needs.
- Document accurately in Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Assist colleagues and seek help when necessary; recognize personal limitations.
- Report adverse reactions promptly and educate patients and families on side effects and treatment aids.
- Ensure correct patient set-up, simulate treatment fields accurately, and schedule patients appropriately.
- Follow safety protocols, wear radiation badges, practice universal precautions, and participate in daily equipment warm-up procedures.
- Assist with miscellaneous tasks, participate in on-call rotations, and serve as a clinical instructor for students.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associates degree or related field from an accredited program.
- ARRT-T (Radiation Therapy) certification and BLS certification are required upon hire.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in radiation therapy preferred.
- Ability to treat and simulate patients effectively.
