Role Overview:
The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, including medication administration, ventilator management, and patient assessments in critical care settings. They independently handle complex cases, participate in patient education, and support staff development. Key responsibilities include collaborating with healthcare teams, ensuring quality and safety standards, and promoting evidence-based practices. They also assist with invasive and non-invasive procedures, arterial blood gas sampling, and pulmonary diagnostics.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred).
- Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and NBRC-RRT or RCP.
- 0-2 years of clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency with electronic documentation and computer systems.
Key Duties:
- Deliver safe, effective patient care through assessments, therapy, and education.
- Manage ventilators, perform airway procedures, and interpret waveforms.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to plan and evaluate patient care.
- Mentor new staff, students, and peers, fostering a positive team environment.
- Adhere to policies, promote safety, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
