Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, medication administration, and patient assessment primarily in critical care settings. They demonstrate independent decision-making, protocol ventilator management, and perform invasive and non-invasive procedures. The role includes patient education, mentoring staff, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure quality, safe, and evidence-based care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive patient assessments and therapy, including ventilator management and airway care.
- Administer aerosolized medications, perform arterial blood gas analysis, and assist with invasive procedures.
- Educate patients, families, and support staff, fostering a supportive environment for learning and growth.
- Promote patient safety, accurate documentation, and participate in performance improvement initiatives.
- Support new employee and student training, ensuring adherence to policies and standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred).
- Certifications: NBRC-RRT, Respiratory Care Practitioner, BLS, ACLS.
- 0-2 years of clinical experience with at least 6 months in critical care.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and computer skills; ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals.
