Role Overview: A Surgical Technologist assists in the operating room by preparing sterile environments, handling surgical instruments, and supporting surgeons during procedures. They ensure patient safety, sterilize equipment, and document surgical details. Post-operation, they help transfer patients to recovery areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operating room with necessary tools and maintain sterility.
- Assist surgeons during surgeries by passing instruments and maintaining a sterile field.
- Handle and maintain surgical instruments and equipment.
- Monitor patient safety, assist in positioning, and ensure proper preparation.
- Sterilize and prepare surgical tools following infection control protocols.
- Document procedures accurately for medical records.
- Support patient recovery by transferring and monitoring post-surgery.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
- Certifications via the National Board of Surgical Technology, National Center for Competency Testing, or military/public health programs are acceptable.
- Detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and team-oriented.
