Role Overview: Assists surgeons during surgical procedures across all patient ages, ensuring sterile techniques and proper setup.
Key Responsibilities: Supports treatment coordination, provides patient assistance, manages clinical equipment, and maintains aseptic protocols.
Participates in surgical briefings, verifies surgical site, maintains supply counts, prepares specimens, and disposes of sharps safely.
Assesses wounds, applies dressings, and follows universal precautions.
Initiates emergency procedures, assists with patient admissions/discharges, and performs billing as needed.
Acts as a preceptor for students, performs quality control, and handles additional duties like specimen collection, patient transport, and post-mortem care.
Ensures medications and solutions are labeled under supervision.
Qualifications & Skills: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required or exempt under applicable law; completion of a specialty training program.
Work Environment & Schedule: Typically performed in a clinical setting with rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties with a 30-minute response time.
