Role Overview: Radiologic Technologists perform diagnostic, therapeutic, and research imaging procedures involving ionizing radiation. They independently conduct radiographic and fluoroscopic exams, ensuring patient safety and compliance with legal and institutional policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct orders, identify and prepare patients, and document clinical histories while maintaining confidentiality.
- Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure.
- Prepare and administer medications via vascular access as prescribed, and evaluate image quality for proper positioning and technical acceptability.
- Verify data storage and transfer, post-process images if needed, and assist licensed practitioners during procedures.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers, supporting ongoing learning and safety.
- Perform radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures in various settings, including operating rooms and ICU.
Qualifications & Skills: Graduate of a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology; ARRT-R certification required within six months for new graduates; ability to advance to level 2 within 24 months for hires after a specified date; preferred bachelor’s degree in a related field.
