Role Overview: Radiologic Technologists perform diagnostic, therapeutic, or research imaging procedures using ionizing radiation. They independently execute radiographic and fluoroscopic exams, analyze data for diagnosis, and assist licensed practitioners. Responsibilities include preparing patients, ensuring proper identification, optimizing imaging protocols with safety principles like ALARA, administering medications when prescribed, evaluating image quality, and documenting activities in compliance with laws and policies. They also educate and monitor students and healthcare providers, and assist in procedures outside the Radiology Department such as in operating rooms or ICU.
Key Duties:
- Obtain correct orders, identify and prepare patients, document clinical history.
- Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, maximize patient safety, and ensure quality images.
- Administer medications via vascular access as prescribed.
- Evaluate images, verify storage, and process data as needed.
- Assist with fluoroscopic and specialized procedures.
- Support education of students and healthcare team members.
Qualifications & Skills: Graduate of Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology; new graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry within 6 months; applicants hired after a specified date must complete steps for level advancement within 24 months. The role requires technical proficiency, attention to detail, patient care skills, and knowledge of safety and legal regulations.
