Role Overview: MRI Technologist I is responsible for performing magnetic resonance imaging procedures to assist in diagnosis, using radiofrequencies within a magnetic field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct patient information, ensure proper identification, and prepare patients for exams while maintaining confidentiality.
- Use appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and prioritize patient safety following ALARA principles.
- Prepare and administer medications as prescribed, document activities, and evaluate image quality for accuracy and technical standards.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers, applying safety principles to minimize risks.
- Assist licensed practitioners with MRI procedures and interventional techniques, select suitable pulse sequences, and ensure proper data acquisition.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and demonstrate proficiency in routine and complex duties.
Qualifications & Skills: Certification from ARRT (MR), ARMRIT, or NMTCB with ARRT-MR is required. Graduate from a radiologic technology training program; a bachelor’s degree is preferred. Skills include technical proficiency, patient care, safety awareness, and the ability to educate others.
