Role Overview
Provides direct patient care in an acute medicine unit caring for adults with complex medical conditions including renal, endocrine, neurological, GI/GU, pulmonary, infectious disease, and cardiology issues. Responsible for assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care within nursing standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Promotes patient and family-centered care, educating on illness management, post-treatment care, and medication administration.
- Participates in activities that ensure patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance, while engaging in professional development.
- Develops, implements, and documents individualized care plans with clear goals, coordinating across the care team and with patients and families.
- Utilizes critical nursing skills to assess physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, respecting patient values, cultural, spiritual, and population-specific considerations.
- Works in a safety-sensitive environment, maintaining constant alertness to ensure safe practices.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Nursing Diploma/Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s preferred.
- Licenses & Certifications: Current RN license.
- Experience: No prior experience required; two years of experience preferred for advanced roles.
