Role Overview: This position is for a per diem Inpatient Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) specializing in obstetrics and surgical assistance. The role involves providing direct patient care, supporting surgical procedures during obstetrical cases, and collaborating with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in obstetrical surgeries, ensuring proper setup, equipment operation, and surgical site verification.
- Provide patient care including vital signs, hygiene, feeding, and activities of daily living under RN supervision.
- Support treatment coordination, connect patients to clinical equipment, and assist with specimen handling.
- Maintain accurate supply counts, document medical information, and ensure proper disposal of sharps and linens.
- Assist with wound care, sterile dressing changes, and respond to emergencies.
- Participate in admission, discharge, billing, and on-call rotations. Cross-train in Women’s and Children’s services.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Nursing (required).
- Obstetrics experience is essential.
- Ability to scrub in OR, Nursery, and Postpartum settings.
- Strong teamwork, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols.
