Role Overview: Radiologic Technologists perform diagnostic, therapeutic, or research ionizing radiation procedures, including radiographic and fluoroscopic exams, to support licensed practitioners. They independently execute or assist with procedures, ensuring patient safety, proper positioning, and image quality while adhering to ALARA principles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct orders, identify and prepare patients, and document clinical history confidentially.
- Use appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and ensure patient safety.
- Prepare and administer medications via vascular access as prescribed.
- Evaluate images for quality, verify data transfer, and assist with post-processing.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers.
- Assist licensed practitioners in fluoroscopic and specialized procedures, including outside the radiology department.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology.
- New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry within 6 months.
- Applicants hired after a specified date must progress to level 2 within 24 months.
Work Environment & Standards: Typically performed in a clinical setting, with accountability for job-specific duties and adherence to policies. Additional competencies may be required based on department-specific training.
