Role Overview:
The Physical Therapist provides medically prescribed therapy to alleviate pain, restore function, and prevent disability caused by disease or injury.
They evaluate patients, develop personalized treatment programs using techniques such as exercise, manual therapy, heat, water, light, and electrical modalities, and perform diagnostic tests on muscles, nerves, and joints.
The therapist guides patients in active/passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait, and functional training, utilizing equipment like ultrasound machines, diathermy, and whirlpools.
They instruct patients on the use of mobility aids and postural control, perform initial and re-evaluations, document progress, and may supervise assistants, aides, or volunteers.
Training of medical staff and students in therapy techniques may also be part of the role.
Qualifications & Skills:
Additional certifications such as Pelvic Health are preferred.
Must obtain licensure within 90 days if not already licensed.
