Respiratory Therapist II – Night Shift (Non-NICU)

Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, primarily in critical care settings, including ventilator management, airway procedures, and arterial blood gas analysis. They assess patients, collaborate with healthcare teams, and deliver education to patients, families, and staff. The role involves independent decision-making, protocol adherence, and participation in quality improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer medications, manage ventilators, and perform invasive and non-invasive procedures.
  • Perform patient assessments, verify orders, and deliver comprehensive respiratory therapy.
  • Educate patients, families, and healthcare staff; mentor new employees and students.
  • Ensure a safe, high-quality environment through accurate documentation, adherence to safety protocols, and participation in performance improvement activities.
  • Promote evidence-based practices and support a team-oriented work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in line with organizational policies.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program; Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s preferred.
  • 0-2 years of clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist certification, Basic Life Support, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support required.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills; proficiency with computer systems.
