Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, including medication administration, ventilator management, airway procedures, and patient assessments in critical care settings. They deliver patient education, collaborate with healthcare teams, and mentor new staff and students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer aerosolized medications, perform airway management, and interpret ventilator waveforms.
- Conduct arterial blood gas sampling and analysis.
- Assess patients and develop care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Educate patients, families, and support staff to promote understanding and safety.
- Ensure quality and safety through accurate documentation, adherence to protocols, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Support invasive and non-invasive procedures and pulmonary diagnostics.
- Participate in staff development and maintain compliance with policies and standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy.
- Certifications: NBRC-RRT, Respiratory Care Professional, BLS, and ACLS.
- 0-2 years of clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care preferred.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and computer skills.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with healthcare professionals.
