Role Overview: Per Diem Respiratory Therapists provide specialized respiratory care, assess patient needs, and develop treatment plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes. They perform patient assessments, manage ventilators, deliver therapies such as oxygen and aerosolized medications, and assist with emergency airway management. The role includes educating patients and families, supporting intra-hospital transport, and collaborating with the healthcare team. They also assist with procedures like bronchoscopy, monitor patient status using non-invasive tools, and help with discharge planning related to respiratory needs. Additionally, they may function as shift coordinators and preceptors, ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate from a Specialty Training Program (required)
- Strong assessment, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to operate and manage respiratory equipment and emergency procedures
- Experience with invasive and non-invasive monitoring
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance
- Willingness to serve as a preceptor and shift coordinator after tenure
Key Duties:
- Assess patient respiratory needs and plan treatments
- Perform and document therapies, including ventilator management
