Role Overview:
A CT Technologist administers ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes, performing computed tomography and molecular imaging procedures. They acquire and analyze data for diagnosis and assist licensed practitioners with interventional and therapeutic procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure correct patient identification, preparation, and proper documentation of clinical history while maintaining confidentiality.
- Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply ALARA principles to maximize safety and patient care.
- Prepare and administer medications via vascular access under supervision of a licensed practitioner.
- Evaluate image quality, verify data storage/transfer, and perform post-processing as needed.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers.
- Assist with interventional CT procedures and perform prescribed imaging exams.
- Certification by ARRT or NMTCB required upon hire; new graduates must obtain certification prior to employment.
- Additional certification steps required within 24 months for some applicants.
- Graduate of a Radiologic Technology program; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
