Role Overview: The CT Technologist I performs computed tomography and molecular imaging procedures, administering ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. They prepare patients, ensure correct imaging protocols, and optimize technical factors while prioritizing patient safety and adhering to ALARA principles. The technologist evaluates image quality, assists with interventional procedures, and documents activities related to medications and radiation exposure in compliance with regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct orders, identify and prepare patients, and document clinical history confidentially.
- Utilize imaging protocols, optimize technical parameters, and maximize patient safety.
- Administer medications via vascular access as prescribed.
- Evaluate images for quality, verify data transfer, and perform post-processing as needed.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers.
- Assist licensed practitioners with interventional CT procedures and perform prescribed CT scans.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB) upon hire; new graduates must obtain certification prior to starting.
- Completion of a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Commitment to safety, accuracy, and patient care, with a focus on continuous learning and adherence to policies.
