Respiratory Therapist

Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing comprehensive respiratory care aligned with physician orders and clinical standards.

Key Responsibilities: Acts as a Care Coordinator, developing and adjusting patient care plans based on evidence and protocols. Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and clinicians during daily rounds, demonstrating expertise in invasive and non-invasive procedures, respiratory medications, and equipment. Serves as a respiratory consultant across hospital services, participates in quality improvement and clinical research, and educates patients, families, and clinical staff. Maintains certifications such as BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and NBRC-RRT, and ensures accurate documentation and equipment maintenance. Assists in emergency situations, including airway management and rapid response teams, and supports patient discharges and transport while adhering to infection control policies.

Qualifications & Skills: Requires an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy, current Georgia Respiratory Care license, and a minimum of 2 years of critical care experience preferred. Certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and NBRC-RRT are mandatory. Strong communication, clinical judgment, and patient-centered care skills are essential.
