Radiation Therapist, Full-Time Days

Role Overview: The Staff Radiation Therapist in the Radiation Oncology Department applies ionizing radiation to patients, following physician prescriptions. They operate radiation equipment safely, perform precise technical procedures, and participate in quality control monitoring.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver consistent, accurate therapy to treatment areas.
  • Assess patients and provide age-appropriate care for adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Document treatments accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Assist colleagues and perform additional tasks as needed.
  • Recognize limitations, seek assistance, and report adverse reactions immediately.
  • Educate patients and families about side effects and treatment aids.
  • Follow policies for precise treatment, safety protocols, and radiation safety measures.
  • Assess patient mobility, manage fall precautions, and wear radiation badges.
  • Participate in daily warm-up procedures and ensure treatment accuracy.
  • Simulate patients for treatment setup, schedule appointments, and communicate changes.
  • Engage in on-call rotations and mentor students as a clinical instructor.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree from an accredited Radiation Therapy program.
  • ARRT Radiation Therapy certification and BLS certification required.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ radiation therapy experience preferred.
  • Ability to treat and simulate patients effectively.
