Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, medication administration, and patient assessments in complex care settings, primarily in critical care areas. The role involves independent decision-making, ventilator management, airway procedures, arterial blood gas analysis, and patient education. It also includes mentoring new staff and students, collaborating with healthcare teams, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver patient-centered respiratory care and documentation
- Perform assessments, collaborate on care plans, and verify therapy orders
- Manage ventilators, airway devices, and perform invasive/non-invasive procedures
- Educate patients and mentor staff and students
- Ensure safety through accurate charting, adherence to protocols, and promoting a safe environment
- Support performance improvement and evidence-based practices
