Oncology/Surgical ICU Registered Nurse

Role Overview:

This position involves providing direct patient care in a specialized ICU setting, focusing on critically ill oncology, bone marrow transplant, and surgical patients. The nurse will perform assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. Responsibilities include educating patients and families, promoting safety and regulatory compliance, and participating in professional development activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, respecting patient preferences and cultural considerations.
  • Develop, document, and communicate comprehensive care plans aligned with standards of nursing practice.
  • Participate in safety initiatives, quality improvement, and ongoing education, including certifications like CCRN, OCN, and BMTNC.
  • Support patient and family education on illness management and post-discharge care.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Nursing Diploma/Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s preferred.
  • Current RN license required.
  • Experience in ICU, oncology, or surgical settings is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong communication, assessment, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work safely and maintain alertness in a high-acuity environment.
