Certified Medical Assistant – CMA

Role: Certified Medical Assistant supporting outpatient care in ambulatory settings.

Responsibilities include:

  • Obtaining and documenting patient information such as visit reasons, vital signs, medication reviews, and screening details using electronic medical records.
  • Preparing examination and treatment rooms, assisting patients with visits, and ensuring safety and privacy.
  • Providing direct patient care under provider supervision, including performing EKGs, wound dressings, and supporting minor surgical procedures.
  • Preparing and administering medications per policy, conducting patient tests, collecting laboratory specimens, and performing phlebotomy.
  • Managing clerical duties like scheduling, referrals, insurance pre-authorizations, co-pay collection, and maintaining accurate medical records.
  • Facilitating patient communication, reinforcing education, and assisting with orientation of new staff.
  • Handling inventory, sterilization, infection control, and equipment maintenance, while participating in safety and quality initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Graduate of a recognized 1-year certificate or 2-year diploma Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required, certified by NHA, AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, AAH, or AMCA.
  • Strong clinical, communication, organizational, and infection control skills.
