Role Overview: Acts as a pharmacist at a retail pharmacy, ensuring accurate, safe, and efficient medication services. Responsible for interpreting prescriptions, evaluating drug interactions, counseling patients and physicians, and supervising pharmacy staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive pharmaceutical care, including medication interpretation, drug utilization review, and appropriate dispensing.
- Process prescriptions from physicians or patients, reviewing for sensitivities, interactions, contraindications, and duplications.
- Maintain updated patient medication profiles with accurate demographic and insurance information.
- Provide counseling to ensure proper medication use and patient compliance.
- Address prescribing issues, suggest formulary substitutions, and coordinate pharmacy operations.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians, ensuring work accuracy and adherence to standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals on drug therapy, formulary status, and medication ingredients.
- Prepare specialized medications, including sterile and compounding drugs, using aseptic techniques.
- Participate in inventory management, medication ordering, and process improvements.
Qualifications & Skills: Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy required. Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical standards, drug interactions, and patient counseling. Leadership skills for supervising staff and managing pharmacy operations. Ability to collaborate with healthcare teams and ensure compliance with regulations.
