Role Overview: CT Technologists administer ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. They perform computed tomography and molecular imaging procedures, acquire and analyze data, and assist licensed practitioners with interventional and therapeutic procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct patient information, ensure proper identification, and prepare patients for exams.
- Use appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and prioritize patient safety following ALARA principles.
- Prepare, administer, and document medications and radiation exposure as prescribed.
- Evaluate image quality, verify data storage, and assist with post-processing as needed.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare team members.
- Support licensed practitioners in interventional CT procedures and perform prescribed CT scans.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Certification by ARRT or NMTCB required upon hire; new graduates must obtain certification prior to employment.
- For hires after a specified date, must achieve advanced certification within 24 months.
- Graduate of a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology; a related bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Work Environment: Primarily in a clinical setting, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. Additional department-specific skills may be required for successful performance.
