Role Overview: MRI Technologists perform diagnostic, therapeutic, and research magnetic resonance imaging using radiofrequencies within a magnetic field. They independently execute or assist with MRI procedures, ensuring proper patient identification, preparation, and safety while adhering to protocols and the ALARA principle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct orders, verify patient identity, and document clinical history confidentiality.
- Use appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and ensure image quality.
- Administer medications via vascular access as prescribed, and evaluate images for accuracy.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers; apply safety principles to minimize risks.
- Assist with MRI interventions and perform procedures per licensed practitioner’s instructions.
- Choose suitable pulse sequences, participate in quality improvement activities, and demonstrate proficiency in routine and complex duties.
