Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, medication administration, and patient assessment, primarily in critical care settings. They independently manage ventilators, perform airway procedures, analyze arterial blood gases, and educate patients and staff. The role involves collaboration with healthcare teams, supporting quality improvement initiatives, and ensuring patient safety through adherence to policies and evidence-based practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive patient care, documentation, and education
- Perform ventilator management, airway procedures, and respiratory therapies
- Assess patients and collaborate on care planning
- Mentor and educate new employees, students, and peers
- Ensure safety through accurate documentation, medication safety, and compliance with safety standards
- Participate in invasive and non-invasive procedures, pulmonary testing, and cardiac services as needed
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associates or Bachelors in Respiratory Therapy
- Certifications: NBRC-RRT, RCP, BLS, ACLS (all required upon hire)
- 0-2 years of clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and computer skills
- Ability to establish effective relationships with healthcare professionals
