Role: Staff Radiation Therapist in the Radiation Oncology Department, responsible for delivering precise ionizing radiation treatments to diverse patients in accordance with physician prescriptions.
Responsibilities:
- Operate radiation equipment safely, adhering to radiation safety protocols.
- Perform complex technical procedures and accurate patient set-ups.
- Participate in Quality Control monitoring and ensure treatment accuracy.
- Assess patients, provide specialty care, and educate patients and families on treatment side effects and aids.
- Document procedures and patient information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Follow policies for safety, proper patient positioning, and treatment delivery.
- Simulate new patients and schedule treatments, communicating changes appropriately.
- Maintain safety precautions, including wearing radiation badges and practicing universal precautions.
- Assist with additional tasks, participate in on-call rotations, and mentor students as a clinical instructor.
Qualifications:
- Associates degree or equivalent from an accredited program.
- ARRT-T (Radiation Therapy) certification and BLS certification required upon hire.
- Minimum of 2 years radiation therapy experience preferred.
- Proven ability to treat and simulate patients effectively.
