Orthopedic Physical Therapist

Role Overview:
The Physical Therapist provides medically prescribed therapy to alleviate pain, restore function, and prevent disability after injury, disease, or amputation.
They develop individualized treatment plans using techniques such as exercise, massage, manual therapy, heat, water, light, and electrical modalities, based on physician prescriptions.
They perform diagnostic and functional tests on muscles, nerves, and joints, guiding patients through active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, and gait training with equipment like ultrasound machines, whirlpools, and assistive devices.
The therapist conducts initial and re-evaluations, documents progress, and collaborates with the rehabilitation team.
Supervision of assistants, aides, and training of students and staff in therapy techniques may be required.

Qualifications & Skills:
– Education: Doctorate of Physical Therapy (required after 2015) or equivalent.
– Experience: Prior experience in physical therapy preferred.
– Licenses & Certifications: Licensed Physical Therapist, BLS certification required, Pelvic Health certification preferred (must be obtained within 90 days).
– Skills: Proficiency in therapy techniques, diagnostic testing, equipment use, patient education, and documentation.
– Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) mandatory; additional certifications in pelvic health or specialized areas advantageous.
