Radiation Therapist

Role: Staff Radiation Therapist in the Radiation Oncology Department, responsible for applying ionizing radiation to patients following physician prescriptions.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate radiation equipment safely and accurately, delivering precise therapy and performing complex technical procedures.
  • Participate in quality control and ensure adherence to safety protocols, including radiation safety measures and universal precautions.
  • Assess patient mobility, educate patients and families on treatment side effects, and document care in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Simulate patients for treatment setup, schedule treatments, and communicate changes effectively.
  • Report adverse reactions and collaborate with team members, including participating as a clinical instructor for students.
  • Follow policies to ensure safety for self and patients, including proper use of radiation badges and fall precautions.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned and participate in on-call rotations.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from an accredited program.
  • Certifications: ARRT-T (Radiation Therapy) and BLS required upon hire.
  • Minimum of 2 years of radiation therapy experience preferred.
  • Skills in patient treatment and simulation, with a focus on precision and safety.
