Role Overview: The occupational therapist assesses, plans, and implements rehabilitative programs to restore or improve patients’ daily activities, mobility, cognitive functions, strength, coordination, and range of motion. Services are provided across the care continuum with a focus on quality, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Treatment Planning & Care: Implements treatment plans, selects appropriate activities, revises goals with patient/family input, provides education, discharge instructions, and referrals.
- Patient Assessment: Collaborates with physicians to establish and evaluate treatment programs, develops care plans, and creates realistic discharge goals.
- Documentation: Records evaluations, treatment sessions, and discharge information according to departmental guidelines.
- Professional Conduct & Customer Service: Maintains ethical standards, confidentiality, punctuality, effective communication, and fosters teamwork. Applies customer service principles like AIDET and encourages a positive environment.
- Professional Development: Participates in ongoing education, completes required competencies, and contributes to staff training.
Qualifications & Skills: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, licensure as an Occupational Therapist, BLS certification, effective communication skills, team orientation, and basic computer skills.
