Physical Therapy Resident – Orthopedics

Role: A Physical Therapy Resident (PTR) is a postgraduate trainee expected to complete a twelve-month program by gaining clinical experience, participating in mentoring, didactic education, and other learning opportunities. The PTR performs duties similar to licensed therapists, including providing direct patient care across diverse diagnoses and supervising rehabilitation technicians, volunteers, and students.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Treatment: Implement and modify treatment plans based on current practices; document care; coordinate follow-up after discharge.
  • Patient Assessment: Conduct evaluations, set goals, plan discharges, document findings, and communicate with relevant team members.
  • Education: Foster a positive learning environment for observers, students, and staff; ensure learning objectives are met.
  • Productivity: Meet departmental productivity standards, service patient needs proactively, and document work efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Physical Therapy required.
  • Certification in BLS (Basic Life Support) upon hire.
  • Enrollment in a PT Doctorate program is necessary.
