Respiratory Therapist II (RRT)

Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, including medication administration, ventilator management, and patient assessment in critical care settings. They deliver individualized patient care, support family education, and participate in staff development and training.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Administers aerosolized medications, performs airway management, and manages ventilator therapy, including weaning and waveform interpretation.
  • Conducts arterial blood gas sampling and analysis.
  • Collaborates with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Provides patient and family education, mentors new staff, and assists with invasive and non-invasive procedures.
  • Ensures safety, promotes evidence-based practices, and participates in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintains accurate documentation and promotes a positive team environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum education includes a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and NBRC-RRT or RCP.
  • 0-2 years of clinical experience with at least 6 months in critical care.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and computer skills, with the ability to establish effective relationships with healthcare professionals.
