Outpatient Registered Nurse – RN – Dialysis

Position Overview: The Outpatient RN CAP 1 is an entry-level registered nurse responsible for delivering clinically competent care to a patient group, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. They may delegate tasks to care staff and participate in decision-making, teaching, leadership, and quality improvement activities within the End Stage Kidney Disease healthcare team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform patient data collection and analysis before, during, and after hemodialysis treatments, adjusting care plans as needed.
  • Provide patient and family education on treatment and transplant options.
  • Administer medications, assist with emergency responses, and ensure proper laboratory procedures.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to update care plans and achieve patient outcomes.
  • Support staff training and serve as a resource for team members.

  • Qualifications & Skills:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school with current state licensure and BLS/CPR certification.
  • Entry-level experience with less than 2 years in nephrology nursing; hemodialysis experience preferred.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and prolonged standing.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and emergency response skills.

  • Supervision & Environment: May oversee care staff as a Team Leader or Nurse in Charge after meeting specific experience and training requirements. Work environment includes healthcare facility conditions with exposure to infectious materials, requiring physical activity and occasional travel.
