Role Overview
Provides comprehensive respiratory care to pediatric patients, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within hospital guidelines. Uses advanced clinical expertise to support patient care and serves as a resource to the healthcare team. Ensures patient safety through developmentally appropriate care, adhering to quality and regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Effective communication and collaboration with the healthcare team, including documentation and handoffs.
- Educating patients, families, and staff on respiratory treatments and procedures, utilizing diverse learning styles.
- Performing diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory procedures per established standards, troubleshooting as needed.
- Applying advanced skills such as ECMO support, mechanical ventilation, bronchoscopies, and sleep lab procedures.
- Maintaining professional growth through continuous learning and feedback.
Qualifications include an associate degree or CoARC-accredited program in Respiratory Therapy, licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT), and Basic Cardiovascular Life Support certification. A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
