Per Diem Phlebotomist

Role Overview:
The Lab Associate is responsible for collecting blood and non-blood specimens, ensuring accurate labeling, and processing samples for laboratory testing. They provide information about tests, perform waived or moderate testing, and maintain a clean, organized workspace. Additional duties include assisting with specimen accessioning, answering patient inquiries, performing clerical tasks, and supporting training of staff or interns. The role emphasizes adherence to safety protocols, laboratory policies, and effective communication with team members and patients.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Reliable transportation and valid US driver’s license
  • Preferred: Phlebotomy training/certification, 1+ years of experience, BLS certification, proficiency in LIS/EMR, strong communication and customer service skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform venipuncture and specimen collection
  • Verify test orders and label samples accurately
  • Process and accession specimens for testing
  • Assist with waived and moderate complexity testing, including quality control
  • Maintain cleanliness, restock supplies, and support laboratory operations
  • Provide excellent patient care and support, including clerical duties and specimen processing
  • Follow safety procedures, including PPE and sharps handling
  • Support training and teamwork within the department
