Job Summary:
Assists surgical teams in preparing and maintaining sterile fields for open-heart or cardiothoracic procedures. Responsible for setting up instruments, supplies, and equipment, passing tools to surgeons, and ensuring aseptic techniques. Performs technical duties such as maintaining supplies, cleaning equipment, and managing inventory. Transports patients, provides clerical support, and collaborates with nurses to ensure accurate instrument, sponge, needle, and blade counts. Maintains a neat sterile environment and labels solutions appropriately.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High School diploma or GED required; associate’s/technical degree preferred.
- Certified Surgery Technician (CST) or Tech in Surgery (NCCT) certification required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification required.
- Scrub technician and operating room experience preferred.
- Strong attention to aseptic technique, organization, and teamwork skills.
Key Duties:

- Ensure safety and asepsis standards are upheld throughout surgeries.
- Perform housekeeping and equipment maintenance as needed.
