Respiratory Therapist – Regional ICU – Multiple Shifts

Position: Respiratory Therapist (RT) responsible for providing advanced respiratory care in a neonatal ICU setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, administer, and monitor therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory treatments.
  • Consult with physicians to develop and modify patient care plans.
  • Manage invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation, including weaning protocols.
  • Perform patient assessments, diagnostic testing, and arterial blood gas sampling.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure proper documentation.
  • Follow established policies and procedures for respiratory interventions.
  • Perform limited physical examinations and arterial punctures as needed.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based treatments, including high-frequency ventilation and nitric oxide therapy.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with NBRC and licensed or eligible for licensure as a Licensed Respiratory Therapist (LRT) in Alabama.
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS); ACLS and PALS may be required based on department.
  • At least two years of neonatal respiratory therapy experience preferred.

Skills & Attributes: Strong clinical skills in neonatal respiratory care, autonomous decision-making, adherence to protocols, and effective communication with medical teams.
